West Health City Checkup
We gave 789 U.S. cities a checkup. The West Health City Checkup examines 789 U.S. cities with 50,000 or more residents across seven dimensions of daily life, and gives each one a report card: a Grade, a rank, and a health chart showing where it is strong and where it can improve. The health chart reflects the unique combination across financial stability, infrastructure, mental and behavioral health, environmental quality, physical health, safety, and social connection. Using data from the U.S. Census, City Health Dashboard, CDC PLACES, FBI Crime Data Explorer, the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool, CMS facility registries, and FDIC bank locations, the City Checkup is designed to illuminate what each community does well and where it can do more.
What the Checkup Found: Highest and Lowest Grades
These are the cities whose health charts tell the most striking stories. The ten with the strongest results across all seven dimensions, and the ten where the data points most clearly to where attention can make a difference. Download or share this comparison.
