Calculation Methodology

    Select individuals aged 65 or older using the column AGEP with the condition AGEP >= 65.

    Use the columns RETP and SSP to classify income groups:

    - Retirement Income Only: RETP > 0 and SSP = 0
  4. 4
    - Social Security Income Only: RETP = 0 and SSP > 0
  5. 5
    - Both Retirement and Social Security Income: RETP > 0 and SSP > 0
  6. 6
    - Neither Retirement nor Social Security Income: RETP = 0 and SSP = 0
  7. 7
    Filter respondents by sex using the column SEX with values 1 for male and 2 for female to create gender-specific groups.
  8. 8
    Apply the weight column PWGTP to weight each respondent’s data for representativeness.
  9. 9
    Aggregate weighted counts by SEX and income group categories to calculate the share of adults aged 65 or older in each income group by gender.
  10. 10
    Present the results in a stacked bar chart showing the distribution of income groups by sex.
