Calculation Methodology

    Select individuals aged 65 or older using the AGEP column with the condition AGEP >= 65.

    Use the SEX column to filter respondents by gender: include all (SEX in (1,2)) for total, SEX = 1 for male, and SEX = 2 for female.

    Derive income categories from the RETP and SSP columns:

    - Retirement Income Only: RETP > 0 and SSP = 0
  5. 5
    - Social Security Income Only: RETP = 0 and SSP > 0
  6. 6
    - Both Retirement and Social Security Income: RETP > 0 and SSP > 0
  7. 7
    - Neither Retirement nor Social Security Income: RETP = 0 and SSP = 0
  8. 8
    Apply the weight column PWGTP to calculate weighted counts for each income category by gender.
  9. 9
    Aggregate weighted counts by SEX to compute the share of adults aged 65 or older in each income category by gender.
  10. 10
    Present the results as a stacked bar chart showing the distribution of income categories by gender.
