Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
    Select records from the dataset where AGEP is 18 or older.
  2. 2
    Derive age groups from the AGEP column using these bins: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
  3. 3
    Use the RAC1P and HISP columns to classify race and ethnicity according to the specified logic.
  4. 4
    Apply the STATE column to identify geographic location for each record.
  5. 5
    Use the weight column to weight each record's contribution to the analysis.
  6. 6
    Aggregate weighted counts by age group and race/ethnicity categories to calculate the share of the population for each group.
