Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
    Select records from the dataset where AGEP is 18 or older.
  2. 2
    Derive age groups from the AGEP column using these bins: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
  3. 3
    Use the RAC1P and HISP columns to classify race and ethnicity according to the specified logic for categories such as Asian Only, Black or African American Only, White Only, Hispanic or Latino (Any Race), Other Single Race, and Multiple Races.
  4. 4
    Apply the weight column PWGTP to weight each record in the analysis.
  5. 5
    Aggregate the weighted counts by age group and race/ethnicity categories to calculate the share of the population within each age group.
  6. 6
    Present the results as a stacked bar chart showing the distribution of race and ethnicity shares across the defined age groups.
