Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
Select individuals aged 18 and older using the AGEP column with a filter condition AGEP >= 18.
  2. 2
Derive age groups from the AGEP column using bins: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+, corresponding to labels 1 through 6.
  3. 3
Categorize federal poverty levels using the POVPIP column with these ranges: <100% FPL, 100-199% FPL, 200-399% FPL, and 400%+ FPL.
  4. 4
Apply the weight column PWGTP to weight each individual's data.
  5. 5
Aggregate weighted counts by age group categories derived from AGEP and by federal poverty level categories from POVPIP.
  6. 6
Calculate the share of the population within each federal poverty level category for each age group.
