Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
    Filter the dataset to include only records where R65 equals 1 or 2, representing adults age 65 or older.
  2. 2
    Use the column HISPEED to identify internet access, where HISPEED=1 indicates having access to high-speed internet and any other value indicates no access.
  3. 3
    Apply the weight column WGTP to weight each record appropriately.
  4. 4
    Aggregate the weighted data by STATE to calculate the share of adults age 65 or older living in households with high-speed internet subscriptions.
