Calculation Methodology
- 1Select records from the dataset using the columns
AGEP,STATE,RAC1P,HISP,SEX,POVPIP,SCHL,SSP,RETP,FS,TYPEHUGQ, andWAGP. - 2Derive age groups from the
AGEPcolumn by binning ages into ranges: 18-34, 35-49, 50-64, 65-79, and 80+, corresponding to bins [18, 34.99], [35, 49.99], [50, 64.99], [65, 79.99], and [80, 1000]. - 3Filter the dataset for each income source category using these conditions:

SSP> 0 - 5- Retirement Income:
RETP> 0 - 6- Public Benefits: (
SSIP> 0 ORPAP> 0 OR (FS== 1 ANDTYPEHUGQ== 1)) - 7- Earnings from Work:
WAGP> 0 - 8Apply the weight column
PWGTPto each record to account for survey sampling design. - 9Aggregate weighted counts by
AGEPbins andSTATEto calculate the distribution of income sources across age groups and states. - 10Present the results as a stacked bar chart showing the share of each income source category by age group.
