Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
Select data from the dataset using the columns HHLDRAGEP, NP, TENURE, and FPL.
  2. 2
Derive age groups from HHLDRAGEP by binning values into 65-80 for HHLDRAGEP between 0 and 64.99, and 81+ for values above 65.
  3. 3
Derive household size categories from NP where NP=1 means one-person household, NP=2 means two persons, and NP=3+ means three or more persons.
  4. 4
Filter data by TENURE to separate housing tenure into Owned with mortgage (TENURE=1), Home Owned Without Mortgage (TENURE=2), and Rented (TENURE=3).
  5. 5
Apply the weight column WEIGHT to calculate weighted shares of householders aged 65 or older with income below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
  6. 6
Aggregate the weighted results by NP categories and TENURE groups to produce the grouped stacked bar chart by household size and housing tenure.
