Calculation Methodology

    Select records from the dataset using the columns AGEP, NP, TENURE, STATE, and FPL.

    Derive household size categories from NP, where NP=1 means one-person household, NP=2 means two-person household, and NP>=3 means three or more persons.
  3. 3
    Filter data by housing tenure using TENURE, where TENURE=1 indicates owned with mortgage, TENURE=2 indicates owned without mortgage, and TENURE=3 indicates rented.

    Use the FPL column to identify individuals with income below the Federal Poverty Level or the Elder Index benchmarks.
  5. 5
    Apply the weight column WEIGHT to calculate weighted shares of householders aged 65 or older.
  6. 6
    Aggregate the weighted shares by HOUSEHOLD_TYPE categories and housing tenure groups to produce the grouped stacked bar chart.
