Calculation Methodology
- 1Select records from the dataset where
TENequals '2' to include only renter-occupied housing units. - 2Use the columns
AGEP,SEX, andNPto identify age, sex, and household size of individuals. - 3Derive age groups from
AGEPusing bins: 60-69, 70-79, and 80+, corresponding to Age 60-69, Age 70-79, and Age 80+. - 4Derive household categories from
NPusing bins: 1 person (Lives Alone), 2 persons (Lives With One Other), and 3 or more persons (Lives With 2+ Others). - 5Apply the weight column
PWGTPto calculate weighted counts for each combination of age group, sex (SEX), and household size category. - 6Aggregate the weighted counts by
AGEPage groups andSEXcategories to produce the share of population age 60 or older living alone or with others, segmented by age and sex.
