Calculation Methodology
- 1Select records from the dataset using the columns
AGEP,STATE, and health insurance coverage indicatorsHINS1,HINS3,HINS4,HINS5,HINS6,HINS7,HICOV, and the helper columnother_coverage_helper. - 2Derive age groups from the
AGEPcolumn by binning ages into three categories: 18-49, 50-64, and 65+. - 3Apply filters for each health coverage type based on the corresponding column values equal to '1' for coverage presence, except for Uninsured where
HICOVequals '2', and for Other coverage whereother_coverage_helperequals '1'. - 4Use the weight column
PWGTPto weight each record in the analysis. - 5Aggregate the weighted counts by the derived age groups to calculate the distribution of each health care coverage source.
- 6Present the results as a stacked bar chart showing the share of each health insurance program across the age groups.
