Calculation Methodology
- 1Select the columns
AGEP,HINS1,HINS3,HINS4,HINS5,HINS6,HINS7,HICOV, andSTATEfrom the dataset. - 2Derive age groups from
AGEPusing bins: 18-49, 50-64, and 65+, corresponding to the ranges 18 ≤AGEP< 50, 50 ≤AGEP< 65, andAGEP≥ 65. - 3Apply filters for each health coverage type based on the following conditions: Medicare (
HINS3= 1), Medicaid (HINS4= 1), Medicare & Medicaid (HINS3= 1 andHINS4= 1), Employer-based (HINS1= 1), Tricare/Other military (HINS5= 1), VA (HINS6= 1), Other coverage (HINS2= 1 orHINS7= 1), and Uninsured (HICOV= 2). - 4Use the weight column
PWGTPto weight each respondent's data. - 5Aggregate weighted counts by age groups derived from
AGEPto calculate the share of each health coverage source within each age group. - 6Present the results as a stacked bar chart showing the distribution of health care coverage sources across the defined age groups.
