Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
    Select individuals aged 65 and older using the AGEP column with the condition AGEP >= 65.
  2. 2
    Derive the Combined Difficulties categories from the columns DREM, DPHY, DEYE, DEAR, DDRS, and DOUT based on specified conditions indicating cognitive and other difficulties.
  3. 3
    Use the original weight column PWGTP to apply weights to each respondent's data.
  4. 4
    Exclude records with missing or invalid values in the relevant difficulty columns.
  5. 5
    Calculate the weighted share of older adults within each Combined Difficulties category.
  6. 6
    Present the results as a single-bar chart showing the distribution of Combined Difficulties among the population aged 65 and older.
