Calculation Methodology

  1. 1
    Select individuals aged 65 and older using the column AGEP with the condition AGEP >= 65.
  2. 2
    Identify the combined difficulties categories using the column DREM for cognitive difficulty and columns DPHY, DEYE, DEAR, DDRS, and DOUT for other difficulties.
  3. 3
    Classify respondents into categories based on the values of DREM, DPHY, DEYE, DEAR, DDRS, and DOUT according to the specified conditions for combined difficulties.
  4. 4
    Apply the sampling weight from the column PWGTP to each respondent to account for survey design.
  5. 5
    Aggregate the weighted counts by the combined difficulties categories to calculate the share of older adults in each category.
  6. 6
    Present the results as a single bar chart showing the distribution of combined difficulties among older adults.
