Calculation Methodology

    Select respondents aged 50 or older by filtering the AGEP column for values greater than or equal to 50.
  2. 2
    Use the RAC1P and HISP columns to classify race and ethnicity into categories: Asian Only, Black or African American Only, Hispanic or Latino (Any Race), White Only, Other Single Race, and Multiple Races according to specified conditions.
  3. 3
    Identify cognitive difficulty status using the DREM column, excluding responses labeled as Unspecified (where DREM equals 2).
  4. 4
    Apply the original weight column PWGTP to weight each respondent's data.
  5. 5
    Aggregate weighted counts by STATE and race/ethnicity categories to calculate the share of adults reporting increased confusion or memory loss in the last 12 months.
  6. 6
    Exclude respondents with Unspecified cognitive difficulty status from the final calculations.
