Calculation Methodology
- 1Select respondents aged 50 or older by filtering the
AGEPcolumn for values greater than or equal to 50. - 2Use the
RAC1PandHISPcolumns to classify race and ethnicity into categories: Asian Only, Black or African American Only, Hispanic or Latino (Any Race), White Only, Other Single Race, and Multiple Races according to specified conditions. - 3Identify cognitive difficulty status using the
DREMcolumn, excluding responses labeled as Unspecified (whereDREMequals 2). - 4Apply the original weight column
PWGTPto weight each respondent's data. - 5Aggregate weighted counts by
STATEand race/ethnicity categories to calculate the share of adults reporting increased confusion or memory loss in the last 12 months. - 6Exclude respondents with Unspecified cognitive difficulty status from the final calculations.
