Calculation Methodology
- 1Select records from the dataset where
HHLDRAGEPis greater than or equal to 65 to focus on adults age 65 or older. - 2Filter households where
NPequals 1, indicating single-person households (living alone). - 3Identify households without vehicles using the
VEHcolumn, where values from 0 to 0.99 represent No vehicles. - 4Use the
STATEcolumn to aggregate data by state for the map-chart visualization. - 5Apply the weight column
WGTPto calculate weighted counts and percentages. - 6Calculate the share of single-person households age 65 or older without vehicles for each state.
