Older adults make over 21 million emergency department visits annually, with this number expected to continue to rise as the older American population grows. These adults often experience higher rates of admission and longer hospital stays due to vulnerabilities. Geriatric Emergency Departments (GEDs) are designed to identify and address the unique and complex needs of older adult patients in emergency settings. A growing body of evidence has demonstrated that GEDs support older patients.
